“Santa Monica Snapshots” Photo Contest Winner Announced!

Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau (SMCVB) has announced the winner of its “Santa Monica Snapshots” Photo Contest, which took place from May 7th-16th in celebration of National Tourism Week. The photo contest asked past and present Santa Monica visitors and residents to submit a photo of their favorite location in Santa Monica. The entrant of the winning photo, as chosen by SMCVB Board of Directors, won a two-night stay at the Holiday Inn Santa Monica Beach Hotel ( and will have their winning photo featured on through June 30, 2010. Santa Monica holds Annual Memorial Day Observance at Woodlawn Cemetery

Santa Monica’s Annual Memorial Day Observance will take place on Monday, May 31, 2010 at Woodlawn Cemetery, located at Pico Boulevard and 14th Street.

The event, which is free to public, will feature a keynote address by an Air Force officer who has not yet been named as well as feature performances by the Sacred Nation Concert Choir (the House of Blues Gospel Choir), the Santa Monica Oceanaires Barbershop Chorus, the Rainbow Riders Choral Group from St. Monica Catholic High School and the combined Lincoln and John Adams Middle Schools choir. Two military flyovers, one of which will feature vintage WWII aircraft, will also take place at the event.

Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau Releases 2010 Official Santa Monica Visitors Guide

Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau (SMCVB) has released the 2010 Official Santa Monica Visitors Guide – a complete round up of things to do, places to eat, where to stay, and more, giving guests of Santa Monica an easy way to plan and enjoy their trip.

Beginning 5/20/2010, the first 600 people who request an Official Santa Monica Visitors Guide at will receive a Santa Monica Frisbee and be entered to win a two-night stay at Hotel California in Santa Monica!

NFL Players Premiere League Flag Football Tournament & Skills Challenge Heads to Santa Monica

On Sunday, March 23, 2010, Santa Monica will host the first-ever NFL PLAYERS Premiere League flag football tournament and skills competition, featuring entertainers, former NFL greats, and recently drafted rookies, to close out the NFL PLAYERS Rookie Premiere Weekend.

The free event is open to the public and invites all Southern California NFL fans to attend and take part in football activities from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Santa Monica High School located at 601 Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica, Calif.

The competitions, produced by Entertainment League Productions, feature four flag football teams comprised of three NFL legends and five celebrities, with NFL rookies and other legends weighing in with commentary and coaching. Additionally, fans can watch as each participant competes in the Skills Challenge, which tests agility, accuracy and hand coordination.

NFL legends competing in the competition include former Super Bowl champions Roger Craig, Willie Gault, Andre Rison, Ricky Watters and Willie McGinest who joins fellow USC alum and NY Giants star Jason Sehorn, plus Raghib “Rocket” Ismail and many more. Former UCLA and current Jacksonville Jaguars star Maurice Jones-Drew will provide commentary and several top NFL Rookies will be on hand to meet fans, and serve as coaches and commentators as part of NFL PLAYERS Rookie Premiere weekend.

Celebrities include, Dean Cain (former player for Santa Monica High School 1982 – 1984, and NFL’s Buffalo Bills), Michael B. Jordan (star of Friday Night Lights), Columbus Short (Death at a Funeral, Stomp the Yard), Wood Harris (Remember the Titans), Arlen Escarpeta (We Are Marshall), Josh Hutcherson (Bridge to Terabithia), Joel David Moore (Avatar), Sam Page (Desperate Housewives) and many others.
