Route 66 84th Anniversary Celebration at Santa Monica Pier

On Veteran’s Day, November 11, the Pier will celebrate the 84th Anniversary of the world-famous Route 66 with some of its biggest names, authors, and artists, kicking off a day-long celebration of activities. All activities will be located on the Pier at the Route 66 Sign and Pier Parking Deck.

8:30AM – 9:00AM – Veteran’s Day Recognition Ceremony

9:00AM – 9:30AM – Classic Route 66 Car Caravan arrives in procession

9:30AM – 10:00AM – Civic Leaders Speeches and California State Assembly Members Resolution names November 11 as “Route 66 Day” in honor of the road’s 84th Birthday.

10:00AM – 1:00PM – Route 66 Author’s & Artists Event Begins

10:00AM – 4:00PM – Route 66 Car Show Begins

10:30AM – Gumpathon Runners finish their transcontinental run across Route 66

and the USA to raise money for injured veterans
10:50AM – Gumpathon Runners take the stage for interviews with Emmy Winner, Documentarian & Moderator Joe Frederick

11:00AM – Minute’s silence to remember the U.S. Military for Veteran’s Day

12:00Noon – 3:00PM – Route 66 “Legends” Series Begins (on-stage interviews with
Route 66 Icons about the importance of Route 66 to America, moderated by Joe Frederick)

3:00PM – 4:00PM – Route 66 Car Show Awards Ceremony (on stage)

4:00PM – Route 66 Birthday Event Concludes, Vintage Car Procession Leaves Pier
