Friends and Family Extra Room and Things To Do Throughout the Holidays

Santa Monica Convention and Visitors Bureau (SMCVB), with the help of its hospitality partners, is helping residents celebrate the holidays by launching the popular Extra Bedroom program which offers deep discounts to local residents and their visiting friends and families. The Extra Bedroom program allows locals to enjoy the city with their families and rediscover the destination, which was named one of National Geographic’s “Top Ten Beach Cities” in the world in 2010.

From November 15, 2010 through January 24, 2011 all Santa Monica residents with proof of residency (California ID or drivers license) can take advantage of a number of discounts and special offers for visiting friends and family. Between discounted hotel rooms, offers at Santa Monica attractions like Pacific Park and the Trapeze School and a number of specials at top Santa Monica restaurants, there are plenty of reasons for residents to encourage their visiting family to stay, play and buy local. For a full list of program offers and participating Santa Monica businesses please visit www.SantaMonica.com/extrabedroom.

“We are thrilled to again be able to offer our residents an opportunity to make it easier for them to accommodate their visiting guests during one of the busiest travel seasons of the year,” said Misti Kerns, president and CEO of Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We hope to encourage our residents and their visiting family and friends to stay local and explore all the great things Santa Monica has to offer during the holiday season.”

In addition to the Extra Bedroom program, Santa Monica also plays host to a wide range of holiday events perfect for visiting family and friends, making entertaining during the holidays a little easier. Residents can stop by (or drop off their visiting relatives) at one of Santa Monica’s four visitor information locations and the experienced staff will help them plan their transportation, itinerary and share all of the wonderful things to do in Santa Monica and the Los Angeles area.
