Santa Monica Welcomes Wisconsin & TCU Football Fans!

This month, thousands of fans will visit Santa Monica and Southern California for the 97th Rose Bowl Game and the 122nd Tournament of Roses Parade. Santa Monica encourages fans, alumni, players, coaches, cheerleaders and other VIPs to explore the quintessential California seaside city, with its 8.3 square miles of walkable streets and its 400+ world-class restaurants, sports bars, pubs, lounges and shops.

In kicking off the Rose Bowl and parade festivities, Santa Monica welcomes The University of Wisconsin Alumni Association for their “Party at the Pier” pre-game pep rally near the famed Santa Monica Pier.  The celebration of University of Wisconsin’s (UW) New Year’s Day Rose Bowl bid against Texas Christian University’s Horned Frogs, is scheduled for December 30 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Complimentary and open to the public, the event will feature specialties from local food vendors and varied entertainment, with more than 25,000 Wisconsin fans expected.

“The opportunity to host our event in Santa Monica, with its scenic ocean views and beautiful beaches as a backdrop, is one of the many highlights of the Rose Bowl experience for our team and our fans,” commented Kevin Kluender, Assistant Athletic Director, University of Wisconsin.

“Local businesses are energized by the spirit visiting fans and team supporters will bring.  Specials and deals for the occasion, offered by some of Santa Monica’s top hotels, shops and restaurants, should not be missed,” says Misti Kerns, president and CEO, Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau.
