10 Best Contest- Lago

By Kimberly Wiethorn

Locanda del Lago

Hi everyone! It’s me Kimberly Wiethorn the winner of your “10 Best Contest” back to report on my next yummy Santa Monica dining adventure.

Having a nice meal and cocktails while sitting outside enjoying the lovely Santa Monica sunshine and people watching is something I love to do on the weekends. One of the great parts about wining this contest is it gave me a great excuse to catch up with friends and invite people to dinner with me.  This time, I took my friend Isaac and headed down to Locanda del Lago on the 3rd Street Promenade for brunch.

One of the great things about Lago is that they serve brunch til 4pm and the menu is quite extensive so they are bound to have whatever you are craving (and you can still sleep in!), they also have a Happy Hour every day from 4-7 and all night on Tuesdays.

We started with some awesome burratta (my weakness), followed by Salmon with Garlic-Lemon Sauce and spinach for me and an Ahi Tuna salad for my friend. I kept eyeing the pastas around me which all looked amazing.

They also have many specialty cocktails and martinis that I highly recommend! Being picky about my Italian food, one thing I always judge Italians by is whether or not they carry Amarro, a traditional Italian after dinner drink. Lago I believe had six of them!

So be sure to check them out next time you are out at the promenade.

Happy Dining!

Love Visiting Santa Monica!

By Arian Sullivan

From the moment I wake up and go out to the great coffee cafes for breakfast to watching the beautiful sunset with my daughter at the end of an amazing day. Santa Monica is bursting with amazing people, and places to go. I love going for walks or bike rides on the ocean pathway. Watching people from Santa Monica going through their every day exercise  routines, walking their dogs, riding their bikes, preparing for the Santa Monica marathon, surfing or playing volleyball.

I look forward to going to the Farmers Markets whether it is the Sunday Main Street market or the Arizona Ave. market. Seeing chefs coming for fresh produce for the nights dishes or families picking out fresh fruits and vegetables together. The beach is so spectacular and clean. The views are so calming. The salt air and ocean soothes the soul. The diverse ethnic  restaurants are outstanding. We also enjoy going out to sample the great Happy Hour menus at the Main Street Restaurants. The shopping is first class.

I can’t wait to visit again!
