  1. DW says:

Is the Santa Monica College “Independence Day Celebration” fireworks date a typo? It says June 25th, which isn’t the date most of us associate with “Independence Day”

  2. santamonica says:

Thank you for your comment. The Santa Monica Celebrate America annual event takes place the last Saturday of June.

  3. ashwepoo says:

Is there not show on the santa Monica pier for the 4th?

  4. santamonica says:

There are no firework shows in Santa Monica on the 4th of July. The City’s Celebrate America annual event takes place at the end of June at Santa Monica College.

  5. June 25, 1776 says:

    **********HAPPY JUNE 25 !! **********

Who is the genius who came up with that idea ?
    It’s stupid !

  6. June 25, 1776 says:

    Real genius:
    1) The event take place from Saturday, June 25, 2011 to Saturday, June 25, 2011

    2) “…..(with plenty of refreshments availiable for purchase)”

Can’t even spell available correctly !

  7. June 25, 1776 says:

    Third and last comment:
    I’m in L.A.
    I posted today July 1, 7.06 pm but it shows July 2, 2.06 a.m.

What’s going on with you ?

  8. Jaden says:

:-/ Bummer that Santa Monica doesn’t bother with celebrating independence day. A ‘Celebrate America’ day a week before seems kind of silly.

  9. James says:

No Marina del Rey fireworks either, due to budget cuts. What a disgraceful 4th of July for Westsiders.

  10. santamonica says:

Thank you for your comments. Santa Monica has not held a fireworks show since 1991 due to many reasons (for more information visit However, Santa Monica does host the annual 4th of July Parade ( on the morning of July 4th as well as the Celebrate America event and firework show ( the last weekend in June.
