Monday, April 16th launches the week of a new California Coastal Commission initiative: Earth Day 2012: Clean Up Where You Live, Work, and Play. From April 16‐22, Californians from around the state will organize their own trash cleanups in various locations, helping to remove debris from our communities and shorelines before it has a chance to enter the Pacific Ocean.
This new initiative is different from the Cleanup programs that the Commission organizes throughout the year, which include California Coastal Cleanup Day and the year‐round Adopt‐A‐Beach Program, because these citizen cleanups will largely be self‐organized by concerned people who want to make a difference in the locations where they either live, work, or play.
